Choose audio and text separately
Original audio, a dubbed soundtrack, translated subtitles and captions are different options. Look at the viewing service's audio and subtitle menus rather than assuming that a translated movie title promises a particular track. Captions can include relevant sounds and speaker information that ordinary translation subtitles may omit.
Match the edition when timing is wrong
A subtitle file made for one cut may not align with another. Check whether you selected an extended or theatrical edition and whether the episode number matches. Make the text comfortable to read
Where the player allows it, adjust subtitle size and background for the distance from your screen. Test a conversation scene instead of judging from a paused title card.
